Our speaker this week, Frank A. Longo, is a member of Golomb & Longo, PLLC, a litigation law firm in mid-town Manhattan with more than 40 years of experience in representing individuals injured as the result of motor vehicle negligence, construction accidents, medical malpractice and defective products. Mr. Longo spoke to the group about several types of personal automobile insurance coverage options in NY that are important to know about but are often overlooked or misunderstood by brokers and consumers including additional No-Fault (“PIP”) coverage and Supplemental Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage (“SUM”).  PIP covers your medical bills and a portion of your salary up to a minimum of $50,000 if you are injured in a car accident in New York regardless of fault but the amount can be increased for a small additional premium. SUM can provide additional coverage to the insured, again at a relatively low cost, for non-economic damages (i.e., pain and suffering) if you are in an accident with another vehicle that is either uninsured or underinsured under the applicable rules and regulations.  Thanks Frank!!
