SPEAKER PRESENTATION:
President Jason introduced our guest speakers, Kyung Pak, Younhee Shin.
Our guest speakers explained that Korea was a country that focused on literacy for all. They focused on simplifying the alphabet to be understood by all. We watched a film which depicted the path of literacy developed in Korea. The film went onto a medical sector explaining the strides Korea has made in liver transplantation using multiply donors to create “one liver” for the one recipient. Korea is the home of robotic surgery in heart surgery and have the highest survival rate. In addition, the area of infertility issues are very successfully addressed in Korea. Going forward, the film explained the Korean people enjoy government subsidized health care. The majority of dental care including dental implants are also covered. Also, technology is very advanced. Phone applications and mobile internet services are highly developed. The ICT benchmark is highest in Korea and robotics are developed to navigate the most difficult terrain. An interesting sensor placed in refrigerators can alert you when you are running low on particular items as well.
Q&A followed. Dr. Frank Goldzer asked about utilizing smart phones. Also, Melanie C noted that her finest PT was Korean.
All applauded and thanked our speakers.
Raffle was won by Coby and in the search for jokers, he won again !!
Respectfully submitted,
Melanie R. Ciraco
